Game Update 8.8 Patch Notes - Take the Plunge Below | "Razing Hell"

For some, every defeat is another lesson. Every victory earned through persistence, and every run another chance to grow stronger.

Leading the charge are our newest variants, Death Defier Annie and Killing Time Eliza. Whether you're refusing to stay down or taking fate into your own hands, these fighters are ready to carve their own path through the battlefield. Pulling either of these hot new variants would definitely be a perfect catch.

We're also continuing our expansion of new Variant Events with 3 new seasonal Prize Fights. One for Death Defier Annie and Killing Time Eliza. And also the water element based Sink or Swim Prize Fight. Don't forget that every difficulty offers its own rewards, so challenge them all to claim everything on offer.

The Underworld won't conquer itself. Equip your fishing skill and check out the full list of Patch 8.8 updates below!

Prize Fight Updates

Seasonal Prize Fight: Sink or Swim

Sink or Swim makes its debut as a new Prize Fight, challenging players to put their Water fighters to the test. Its modifiers reward teams that embrace this slippery element and will punish anyone not careful to build a strategy around it. This is similar to last month and is an additional prize fight that exists alongside your regularly scheduled programming.

Events Updates

We are continuing the two events aimed at aiding players in evolving progress with their newly obtained monthly variants. These events offer significant reward increases from the standard daily event versions and for difficulties beyond Basic, will be at an increased difficulty compared to the regular events. Reminder that these events cannot be skipped and that you can earn rewards for all tiers of difficulty a single time for maximum rewards!

Balance Changes/Fighter Reworks

Reworks:

Freeze Frame Peacock:

Old:

SA1: Projectiles have a 25/35/50% chance on HIT to inflict SLOW and WITHER for 15 seconds. Both effects are removed if the opponent uses a BLOCKBUSTER.

SA2: When SLOW or WITHER expires, the opponent suffers damage equal to 25/35/50% of Peacock’s ATTACK and is STUNNED for 3 seconds.

New:

SA1: PROJECTILE HITS inflict WITHER for 5/7/9 seconds while the opponent is not FATIGUED. When the opponent reaches 5 stacks of WITHER, remove all WITHER stacks to inflict FATIGUE for 5 seconds and set the opponent's SEPCIAL MOVES and TAG-INS on cooldown.

SA2: When removing WITHER from the opponent, deal damage equal to 25/35/50% of Peacock’s ATTACK per stack of WITHER removed and heal for 25% MAX HEALTH.

Brain Freeze Cerebella:

Old:

SA1: ATTACK damage is increased by 1/2/3% of your CURRENT HEALTH.

SA2: Damage inflicted by the opponent is reduced by 1/2/3% per opponent COMBO HIT.

New:

SA1: While near the opponent, inflict IMMOBILIZE and SLOW for 7/10/12 seconds every 3 seconds. Reduce the opponent's ATTACK by 3% for every second they are IMMOBILIZED until the TAG OUT.

SA2: Deal 4/5/6% MAX HEALTH as damage to the opponent when either Fighter is KNOCKED DOWN while the opponent is IMMOBILIZED.

Plot Twisted Squigly:

Old:

SA1: Once per match, RESURRECT with 25/35/50% HEALTH. Also gain 5 random DEBUFFS for 10 seconds and 5 stacks of THORNS for 20 seconds.

SA2: Deal 25/35/50% bonus damage for each active DEBUFF stack applied to Squigly.

New:

SA1: Reflect 10% of all damage taken per DEBUFF on Squigly (max: 40%). Also, once per match, RESURRECT with 25/35/50% HEALTH and 4 random DEBUFFS for 15 seconds each.

SA2: Suffer a random DEBUFF for 4/6/8 seconds every 4 seconds. Squigly’s NON-BLOCKBUSTER HITS deal 1% MAX HEALTH as damage to the opponent per DEBUFF on either Fighter (max 3%).

Dead of Winter Squigly:

Old:

SA1: RESURRECT with 25% HEALTH and 5 stacks of ARMOR after being dead for 60/45/30 seconds. A stack of ARMOR is removed after every HIT suffered.

SA2: Deal 50/75/100% bonus damage while benefiting from ARMOR.

New:

SA1: While Squigly is alive, the active Fighter inflicts WITHER for 10 seconds and gains ARMOR every 15/12/10 seconds. These effects are removed when KNOCKED DOWN.

SA2: When the active Fighter is benefiting from this ARMOR and about to suffer a DEBUFF, remove ARMOR to prevent it and gain 20/30/40% BLOCKBUSTER METER.

Myst-Match Double:

Old:

SA1: While sharing the opponent’s same element, gain a 50/75/100% chance to MIRROR all of an opponent’s BUFFS any time the opponent gains a BUFF.

SA2: Gain 1/2/3 stack(s) of PRECISION when a BUFF expires.

New:

SA1: While sharing the opponent’s same element, gain 1 stack of PRECISION every 3/2/1 second(s) and all HITS deal 100% bonus DAMAGE.

SA2: Double’s PRECISION HITS deal 1/1.5/2% MAX HEALTH as damage to the opponent’s teammates.

Rain Shadow Fukua:

Old:

SA1: 15% chance when landing a BLOCKED HIT to inflict ARMOR BREAK and POWER SURGE for 10/12/15 seconds each.

SA2: After 5 seconds while on Fukua’s side of the stage and while not STUNNED, opponents lose all current BUFFS and suffer FATIGUE for 15/13/10 seconds.

New:

SA1: 15% chance when landing a HIT (including BLOCKED HITS) to inflict ARMOR BREAK and POWER SURGE for 10/12/15 seconds each.

SA2: Every 5 seconds while Fukua is on the opponent’s side of the stage and while not STUNNED, opponents lose all current BUFFS and suffer STUN for 2/3/4 seconds.

Balance Changes:

Soulbound Annie:

  • SA1 now only triggers while below 50% STAR POWER.

Fatal Fray Ms. Fortune:

  • SA1’s Attack and Defense reductions are now removed when Ms. Fortune Tags Out or is defeated.
  • SA2’s Condition changed from “When either Fighter uses a Special Move” to “When either Fighter successfully HITS with a SPECIAL MOVE”

Megalomaniac Marie:

  • SA2’s stun effect now starts counting to 10 seconds once the conditions are met, rather than stunning when the fight timer hits 15 second intervals and the conditions are met. (The stun from Megalomaniac was occurring when the fight timer hit 15 second intervals. Now, it will start the timer once Megalomaniac meets the condition and is the active fighter. If the opponent tags out, this will reset the stun timer for the new fighter as well.)

Known Issues

  • The monthly silver characters in the Headliner relic pool may display last month's lineup at launch. This is a visual issue only. Pulls still draw correctly from the current pool listed above.
